Thursday 26 January 2023 – Fuengirola to Algeciras

Up earlyish and opened the blinds to reveal a line of motorhomes waiting to dump their cassettes and waste water down a manhole – I do hope it was actually a sewer but didn't try it myself!

Yesterday we'd been in touch with some old Funster friends who were in the area on their way to Morocco and it transpired that they'd be in Algeciras later today for an overnight stop before their ferry tomorrow. As Algeciras was only an hour away we told them we'd come find them so after a nice, but very busy, run down the A7 we caught up with them in Lidls car-park. They still had a few things to do so we relocated to our usual parking spot and they later joined us.

But coincidentally, whilst waiting we met another Funster couple who had travelled to Morocco with us some 5 years ago, also on their way again, and invited them over for a cuppa and a catch-up.

Later we all, three couples plus yet another solo Funster, walked down to the City Wok restaurant for an evening meal together. City Wok is one of those all-you-can-eat places with a big range of foods available which you just help yourselves to, generally based on Chinese-style but they'll also cook a steak or fish portion to your liking as well. For €15 per head plus drinks it's excellent value. Much good food and interesting chat was enjoyed before returning to our respective vans after good-byes all round. They'll be leaving early for the ferry in the morning so we might not see them.

So a late night cup of hot chocolate, spiced with Baileys of course, and a very late bed-time.

A most enjoyable day, spoiled a little bit when we discovered the gas heating was playing silly but it still works so we'll have a go at it tomorrow.
