Tuesday 17 January 2023 – Denia to San Fulgencio

A breezy night with a bright start and not too cold. No services here, of course, so away after breakfast with a short stop at the local Mercadonna supermarket to see if we could get some things that Carrefour didn't have; success. The parking also happened to be the alternate motorhome parking for Denia as well, looked okay but as it is right in the centre with blocks of flats around it may be a bit noisy overnight.

As we've no desire to visit Benidorm thought we'd jump onto the AP7 autopista which is toll-free for a while until Alicante where we came off to see what we could see. Traffic was pretty light so we passed through the city on it's seaward side and stuck to the coastal road. After a short distance we espied a group of motorhomes parked up on the edge of a beach – this wasn't on any of our apps but looked okay for a lunch stop and maybe a walk on the beach. However the wind was now at gale force with sand blowing about so it was a very short walk!

Obviously not a place to overnight we continued south after lunch, thinking of finding somewhere with a bit of shelter as this wind was forecast for the next 48 hours We came across La Marina and San Fulgencio, both places we've stopped at in the past and the latter being a favourite of our friends Derek and June who coincidentally had had to return home this very morning due to a bereavement.

Well surprise surprise, they did indeed have room for us for a couple of nights so despite it being quite early for us we took advantage; at least it's quite sheltered from this wind. In fact it was warm enough to sit in the sun for an hour or so too!

For some reason we were both a little weary so indulged in late afternoon naps before a late tea and earlyish night. The wind has dropped for now but is still forecast for tomorrow.
